![]() Song: When I first heard this song I thought it was forgettable and not that interesting. It’s black and white with Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the beach just being themselves it seems. Video: This is probably the simplest video on this album and it works fine. Overall, I still love this song so it’s a 4/5 stars. I would say this song would be better without him if this song obviously wasn’t about them but that’s the only thing that bothered me. ![]() I’m not a big fan of Jay-Z and he does take it too far with the Ike Turner”Eat the cake Annie-Mae” line. As for lyrics, they work mostly until Jay-Z starts rapping. That message is nothing new for Beyoncé and Jay-Z who guest raps (duh). The song is the leading single because of the hypnotic beat and fun message just being sloppily in love with your partner. Song: It didn’t occur to me till about now that Drunk in Love is kind of like a sequel to “Crazy in Love.” I don’t know if that was the intention or not but it works really well. And as a warning this is when things start to get explicit. ![]() Some of the imagery did remind me of Lady Gaga if Lady Gaga was very sexified. It has creepy American Horror Story-ish imagery that works well with the beat but that’s not really my style. Video: The video isn’t my favorite but it works for the song. Not that her other songs aren’t unique but this one has just a totally different vibe and I love it! This song is in my top 5 for sure. Something about it just works! I think it stems from it being the one song on this album that I would never think as a Beyoncé song. Song: From the first listen I knew I loved this song. I love part with the running in place that is beautiful. It’s simple and has contrasts of black and white and navy blue which is pretty. Video: Like the song, this video is very interesting. Also, when that beat drops half way in it is great I wish that part was longer. Seriously, I do like this song and it is a nice transition to the next song. As for the lyrics, she’s talks about how she doesn’t trust the record labels and that their “shit is boring.” Well, dang that’s honest. I normally would be annoyed by that but it works here. She kind of does this singing/rapping thing that I surprisingly liked. I didn’t know how to feel about the first time I heard it. Song: The best way I can describe this song is interesting. I was memorized from how well the video goes with the song and honestly it furthers my feelings that this song was coming from a personal place. To me, the song seems authentic and not her trying to be fake deep or give a fake girl-empowerment message like “Girls Run the World.” I give the song a 4/5 stars. With lyrics like “Perfection is a disease of a nation” and “Mama said you’re a pretty girl, what’s in you head doesn’t matter” seems to come for her heart. And although that is true, I was surprised that Beyoncé actually went inside herself and seemed to be singing for a personal level. Song: From the title alone I had a feeling what this song was about how it’s hard to be beautiful. Obviously, this was genius because Beyoncé’s fans are very loyal and would have no complaints about buying anything that she puts out. However, what makes this particular album special is that each song has it’s own music video which comes with every purchase. ![]() As you already know, she released the album on December 13th with absolutely no promotion whatsoever or warning to any of her fans. If you read the title you can easily guess that I’m talking about Beyoncé’s new self-titled visual album. I know I haven’t been on the scene in a while but I decided to come back to review an album that really has been on my mind a lot.
